When Legacy Partners, a Texas Hill Country real estate brokerage, approached me to develop a new visual identity, I knew this was an opportunity to create something truly meaningful—a brand that reflected their integrity, deep expertise, and passion for serving their community.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the thought process and design decisions that shaped this sophisticated and authentic brand identity.

Understanding the Legacy Partners Story

Founded by John Sawyer, Legacy Partners is more than just a real estate brokerage. They’re trusted advisors dedicated to guiding clients through one of life’s most significant investments. Whether buying a first home, dream property, or commercial investment, Legacy Partners stands out for their personalized service and unwavering commitment to integrity.

Their brand values—honor & integrity, excellence & knowledge, and passion for community—needed to be visually represented in a way that felt both timeless and approachable. The goal was to craft an identity that spoke to their expertise and professionalism while remaining warm and relatable.

Design Decisions and Visual Elements

Color Palette: Warm, Grounded, and Sophisticated

The color palette for Legacy Partners features a rich, confident teal blue paired with a vibrant terracotta accent and grounded by neutral grays. These tones were carefully chosen to evoke feelings of trust, intelligence, warmth, and stability.

  • LP Blue: A deep teal representing trust, professionalism, and stability.

  • LP Clay: A vibrant terracotta accent symbolizing their passion for community.

  • Neutral Grays: Offering balance and flexibility in design applications.

These colors are thoughtfully applied to ensure a clean, sophisticated look that maintains a professional yet welcoming aesthetic.

Typography: A Blend of Tradition and Modernity

To convey Legacy Partners' balance of experience and forward-thinking service, I selected fonts with accessibility and practicality in mind. Recognizing that most real estate brokerages, including Legacy Partners, rely on agents creating their own marketing pieces in platforms like Canva, I chose two free, easily accessible fonts. This ensures agents can maintain brand consistency without the burden of purchasing licenses, making it both a cost-effective and efficient solution for their needs.

  • Playfair Display Italic for Headlines: This elegant serif font adds a sense of prestige and timelessness.

  • Source Sans Pro for Body Text: A clean, modern sans-serif that ensures readability and approachability.

The combination creates a harmonious visual hierarchy that reflects both sophistication and clarity.

Logo System: Strength and Precision

John Sawyer, the owner of Legacy Partners, initially approached me with the idea of using a crest for the logo. However, one of their local competitors already utilized a crest, making it potentially too similar. To maintain differentiation while honoring the original inspiration, we retained the concept of a shield to symbolize protection, strength, and trust. Instead of a traditional crest, we applied a mirrored monogram, creating a modern, clean, and balanced design that conveys structure and reliability. This timeless mark anchors the brand, making it both distinctive and adaptable across various mediums.

Creative Direction: Storytelling Through Imagery

Legacy Partners’ photography direction focuses on authenticity and human connection. The visuals are emotive, honest, and often feature tight framing to highlight expressions and gestures, reinforcing the brand’s dedication to personal service. The imagery emphasizes the real relationships and community focus that set Legacy Partners apart.
