Kiosk Cafe

This is one of my favorite projects I’ve worked on so far. Years ago, my husband and I had the opportunity to visit a coffee farm in Costa Rica. It was a fabulous experience... I realized I actually like plain black coffee (it's amazing the difference in good quality coffee) and more recently, small cafes in San Miguel de Allende, MX created an inspiring, peaceful and welcoming environment for me and my husband to create connections. Communities are created over a cup of coffee. I drew from my experiences there to inspire the direction of the brand.

I incorporated the grounded, warm, inviting, and vibrant colors to capture the rich cultures found all over the world. The primary orange color was pulled from several reference photos of cultures from Africa to Costa Rica. The idea of globally sourced coffee and travel is reflected through the use of the compass rose and coffee cup in the logo. The compass rose also mirrors the elaborate and stunning designs found on Costa Rican oxcarts (Carretas) that transport the coffee across the country. If you haven't seen one, click here to read up on the beautiful tradition or better yet, go visit a coffee plantation in Costa Rica!

THE BRIEF:

In the heart of San Diego, Sarah and James stumbled upon a neglected kiosk, envisioning its transformation into a community hub for coffee lovers. With dedication and creativity, the revitalized the space, crafting Kiosk Cafe into a cozy haven where neighbors gather, friendships form, and ideas flow as free as the coffee. Inspired by their travels and a shared passion for coffee, they curated a menu featuring beans sourced from sustainably around the globe. Create a fun brand for this kiosk.
